Constanza, La Vega, Dominican Republic.- Communicators and actors in the tourism sector analyzed initiatives aimed at strengthening the identity and future development of the municipality of Constanza, as part of the "Rethinking Constanza" initiative, organized by the local branch of the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) with the support of the national management of the organization.

The program of activities took place last Friday, Saturday and Sunday, focusing on the institutional training of communicators, institutional strengthening and the coordination of actions to contribute to the positioning of the destination, in an agenda that included conferences, workshops, meetings with actors linked to tourism, visits and gastronomic experiences.

José Tejada Gómez, Sarah Hernández, Esmil Hernández and Vilma Batista.

SSarah Hernández, national president of Adompretur, led the activities along with directors of the branch in this municipality, led by Esmil Hernández, within the framework of the “Rethinking Constanza” initiative, designed to review the present and future of the organization, as well as define lines of action linked to the tourism development of this area.

One of the central focuses of the day was the seminar-workshop  “Rethinking Adompretur”, aimed at reflecting on the role of the institution, renewing its professional commitment and building consensus to strengthen its leadership, identity and contribution to Dominican tourism.

The meeting, held at the Moncarlo restaurant, brought together members of the Constanza branch in a space for training and exchanging ideas about the current challenges of tourism journalism and the need to build a long-term strategic vision for the sector.

During the opening, Esmil Hernández highlighted the value of Constanza as a mountain, religious and ecotourism tourist destination, and stated that the objective of the Adompretur branch in the municipality is to contribute to the professional growth of communicators specializing in tourism.

LThe president of Adompretur, Sarah Hernández, congratulated the local directors for the initiative and highlighted the importance of maintaining ongoing training for the membership and strengthening an institution aligned with its mission, vision and values, capable of responding to the challenges facing today's society and national tourism.

Communication and tourism

The agenda began with the conference “Journalism that transforms destinies”, taught by the communicator and strategic communication consultant Vilma Batista, who suggested that effectively managed community communication can become a driving force for tourism development in Constanza.

Batista argued that narrative is the link between the territory and the world, so media and platforms should be used to showcase attractions that distinguish the municipality, including its climate, gastronomy, festivities, monuments and hospitality.

Later, the communicator José Tejada Gómez addressed the topic “The ethical challenge in the global era”, where he called for rescuing the value of ethics in public life and promoting initiatives that contribute to a more humane and supportive globalization.

PSubsequently, he led a participatory workshop focused on redefining Adompretur's mission, vision, and values, an exercise that generated debates, proposals, and reflections among the participants on the future of tourism journalism and the strengthening of the organization.

The Rethinking Adompretur workshop featured the special participation of Rafael Collado, former president and founder of the Constanza Ecotourism Cluster, who affirmed that the press has a responsibility to inform and verify before publishing, ensuring that the information disseminated is truthful and reliable. Collado emphasized the importance of responsible journalism that contributes to the sustainable development of tourism and the protection of the environment, preventing the spread of false or misinterpreted news that could damage the destination's image.

TIt also featured the keynote address “The Power of Communication”, given by renowned communicator and television producer Miralba Ruiz, who shared her experiences and knowledge about effective communication, the value of narratives and the responsibility of professionals in the face of the challenges of the digital age.
