Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.- Puerto Plata's tourism offerings continue to diversify with the opening of Sunland Buggy, a new adventure option that will offer guided buggy tours, outdoor experiences, and complementary services for visitors, contributing to job creation and the economic development of Maimón.
The project is an initiative of Ángel Hurtado and Joel Silverio, childhood friends and godfathers who decided to join forces to start a business in the community where they grew up, betting on the tourism potential of their land.
“Sunland Buggy is the realization of a dream we've built on friendship and trust. We want to invest in our own community, create opportunities, and contribute to the tourism development of Maimón,” said Joel Silverio, the company's manager and owner.
For his part, Hurtado emphasized: “We want to enhance Maimón’s tourist appeal, offer memorable experiences to our visitors, and generate jobs that contribute to the well-being of our people. We believe in the potential of our community and in what we can contribute to the growth of Puerto Plata as a tourist destination.”.
The company complements its offerings with a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and photography services. It will operate Monday through Sunday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and is considering job opportunities in areas such as tour guiding, reception, mechanics, administration, and general services.
The inauguration included the blessing of the facilities, by the reverend father Lorenzo Burgos de la Cruz, of the Parish of Our Lady of the Miraculous.
The event was also attended by Divison Sánchez, mayor of Maimón; Yanina Torres, consul general of the Dominican Republic in Atlanta, Georgia; and Aníbal Polanco, president of the Association of Truckers, Dump Trucks, Top Loaders and Heavy Equipment, among others.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Luis Hurtado, along with Ángel Hurtado and Joel Silverio, accompanied by Yairis Sánchez Castillo and Dolores Orquídea Rosario Constanzo, the respective wives of the partners.
